After you make your dream home purchase, you should think ahead to protect your property, your life and the lives of your family members especially if you are a new resident to a different region of the country.
Plan your Getaway 2025
From DISASTER ahead of time!
Life often gets interrupted with natural disasters.
Whether you live in an earthquake zone, hurricane, tornado, fire or flood, it would be wise to gather material items like:
birth certificates/social security cards/driver license concealed carry license
marriage license/divorce decrees
passports, visas – any ids: student/military
home insurance/car insurance/registration documents
health insurance documents
medical cards & history/eye glass prescriptions
2 years tax returns
credit card contact numbers/account numbers
wills/trusts/power of attorney/passwords/usernames
titles/deeds
latest bank statements with all pages
video of home and contents prior to departure including opening drawers, safes, jewelry, artwork, attic, basements, garages
vet records for boarding/vaccination records
meds/cash money
emergency contacts numbers
portable chargers/flashlight/
first aid/swiss army knife/shovel
evacuation route/map
school records/emergency contact bracelet for children
hotspot/usbs
Have these items ready to grab in one swoop when evacuating.
Remember to top your gas tank off, keep pillows and blankets and a change of clothes in your vehicle if you are driving. Also have bottled water and food available for your journey.
When bad weather is looming, it is best to evacuate. Even if you have a backup generator for your home, you may forget to buy gasoline to fuel it.
You may also consider adding a generator attached to your pool pump to quell a house fire, trees on your property and vehicles while awaiting the fire department response time and access.
Bear in mind Florida residents along the barrier islands and the mainland southern portion of the State, it can take more than five hours to evacuate by car to leave the Sunshine State.
Don’t wait until DIASTER strikes to begin the process. When you wait, the roadways are bumper to bumper, gas stations run out of fuel, restaurants do not get food deliveries and hotels are already full.
